In 1940, Mr. John Walters Sr. established what has today become the American Torch Tip Company
(ATTC). He and a group of businessmen saw a real need for quality replacement torch tips to help the
growing war effort.
ATTC prospered in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania for close to 37 years and in 1980, the company moved
to new facility in Bradenton, Florida. Here, the company grew to become a very technically advanced
industry leader, producing over 16,000 different types of replacement torch tips and consumables parts
for cutting, welding and brazing applications.
From the very beginning, the company recognized the fact that, in order to be successful, quality had to
be well established and maintained. This meant studying the parts made by every competitor, then
improving upon them, making them better than the original. To accomplish this, the company acquired
the best computer aided production equipment and hired the most skilled employees.
Today, almost all the parts are CNC machined to very precise tolerances. Assembly is carefully monitored.
Product quality is further enhanced and maintained by process control, statistical batch analysis and 100%
inspection of consumable parts for critical characteristics. American Torch Tip now offers replacement parts
for oxy-fuel, MIG, TIG, plasma, metal spray and laser, cutting welding equipment. The company also develops
many custom products for major manufacturers.
There are many types of welding and cutting applications, each requiring its own special torch tip. There are
also many different kinds of welding processes, each using its own special equipment, replacement parts
and consumables. In designing, developing and producing any torch tip, special attention must be paid to
critical parameters and tolerances. For instance, while the orifice size is important, maintaining the
smoothness or finish of the bore is equally important to insure a proper flame cone.
To maintain this kind of consistent quality across a broad range of products, American Torch Tip engineers
manufactures many of its own special products and testing equipment.
American Torch Tip Company is in no way affiliated with the above-named manufacturer. References to the above-named machines,
